Robert Louis Stevenson wrote his masterpiece Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde after having a nightmare in 1886. Almost 40 years later, his novella was adapted into a popular silent film starring the legendary John Barrymore. The film version, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, is a silent rendition that shows the brilliant doctor struggling with his own inner demons, only to create a potion that unleashes the evil Mr. Hyde. This incredible classic will be shown at the Cocoa Village Playhouse which was originally created as a venue for silent films in 1924. Throughout the feature presentation on October 26, J. Thomas Black Jr. will play live music to accompany the film, just like it was done in the good old days. If you consider yourself a cinephile, you will not want to miss this special showing of an early cinematic classic. This presentation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is also the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit.
