A Historic Celebration

The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse was built in 1848 to warn approaching ships about the dangerous shoals along Florida’s East Coast. To celebrate the lighthouse’s 150 years of existence, The Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science has a special exhibit that will be open until September 29. The museum is only about 25 minutes from The International Palms Resort, and it is filled with exhibits and interactive attractions meant for the whole family. The Cape Canaveral Lighthouse Exhibit explores the history of the famous landmark including the different uses it has had in its 150 years. The museum also features a temporary exhibit, Greeting from the Sunshine State, that examines the history of tourism in the Sunshine State. In addition to these two temporary exhibitions, the museum has permanent displays like a butterfly garden, By-Gone Beasts, Florida Before Statehood, Citrus Industry, and Imagination Station. After enjoying everything that the museum has to offer, be sure to stop by the gift shop for that perfect souvenir to help you remember your visit.
